A friend of my mom’s introduced us to Bob Books. We found them at our local library and I immediately ordered them from Amazon. Since Bubs knew all of his letters and sounds, he was ready to move on to reading. Pretty exciting the first time that your child reads!
If you aren’t familiar with the Bob Books, let me tell you a little bit about them. Each book contain about 8 – 10 pages. In the beginning, each page has between three and six words. Each book advances in difficulty by adding new consonants or vowels. The pictures are very basic and contain very little color. But they move at a pace that allows the child to be successful.
Bubs and I enjoy reading the stories. He is so proud of himself when he has sounded out the words and finishes the whole book.
I have added a “Bob Books” page to ABCJLM. On this page you will find suggestions as well as Reading Charts to print off and use as your child reads through the sets. Be sure to click over to view and print off all of the charts. Here is an example for Set 1.
Let me know you thoughts. I would love to hear them. Until then, happy reading!
