When Bubs was in the NICU, the nurses told us “two steps forward, one step back.” I can’t tell you how true that was. He would be doing better which lead to us getting our hopes up and then something would happen. I have reminded myself of this concept throughout our experience with Bubs’ sensory issues. We have good days and then those days when I wonder if good days will ever come again. This evening was one of those moments that reminded me that the “forward steps” will win out.
This afternoon, we have friends visit. When it was time to go home, one of them did not want to help clean up and leave. What was so exciting was how Bubs handled the child’s fit. He explained to the child that they had been able to play and would be able to play again. Bubs cleaned up without any opposition. He stayed in control while they were here and did so good – and he knew it. He was proud of himself.
