17 Christmases is a new Christmas book available from Zonderkidz by Dandi Daley Mackall. A family zooms across the United States visiting seventeen different families in the few weeks surrounding Christmas.
Momma C’s Thoughts: I love books that allow you to study a map and see the different cultures and climates of the United States. Grab a map or use the one provided in the book to help your child understand their place in this world. Because this books exposes you to many different ways to celebrate Christmas, this book can be used to spark many discussions. The illustrations are simple yet at the same time filled with details for sparking conversation.
Although there are some good points, I felt like this book was a little lacking on storyline appeal. Almost like the rhyming and silliness takes over the overall concept. The story of Christmas is woven throughout the storyline but for a child to catch it, it would have to be specifically brought out. I felt like the Biblical points got lost for my kiddos in some of the silliness of the book. A fun read but not one that we have not returned to over and over.
Thank you to Zonderkidz for providing me with the opportunity to review this book.
