When I was a child we would sing the song “Oh, Mister Moon” while driving home at night. As a child I never dreamed that later in life the moon would affect my life so much.
In September 2008 I started charting Bubs days. On my calendar you would see three marks: X, 1/2, and cry. “X” were for the days that were an emotional wreck. “1/2” for days that he was okay half of the time, and “cry” for the days that are filled with tears.
I quickly discovered a pattern and noticed that our worst days were around a full moon.
The scattered days throughout, we wondered if they were associated with
a growth spurt or too much or not enough activity that day.
By watching the calendar for the patterns, I was able to better prepare and deal with the flex of emotions. Because I understood that Bubs was “out-of-sync” and scared by his own actions even more during this time, I am more prepared to give him grace and work through things from a training aspect than a discipline. It is amazing how this changed my outlook.
