Review: 1001 Bible Questions Kids Ask

12/07/2012 by Heidi

As our kiddos have gotten older, the questions have gotten tougher.  This is especially true of biblical topics.  It has caused us to dive a little deeper into the Word as we search for answers to their challenging topics.  Zondervan has helped parents answer and kids come up with questions in their new book 1001 Bible Questions Kids Ask.

The questions and answers are sorted in Bible order starting with Genesis and ending with Revelations, followed by miscellaneous questions.   An index of topics concludes the thick, pocket-sized book. Questions and answers use the NIV text and scripture references follow each question to help the child correlate the question with the Bible verse.

Because theology is not 100% agreed upon, there may be some answers that differ from your belief.  For example, a question is asked about creation being an actual 24-hour day.  Depending on your interpretation of the Bible, you may not agree with this answer.  I believe that these little theology differences can turn into great discussions and research.  Some of the questions provide two contrasting or similar answers which allow you to look at different views.

So you aren’t caught off guard, three questions cover the topic of sex.  While the book is supposed to be geared towards ages 6-9, neither our six or eight year old kiddos have any understanding of sex.

This would be a good book to keep in the car, use as a stocking stuffer, or read during family devotions.  Inquisitive kids would enjoy reading it on their own.

What activities do you do with your child during car rides?

Thank you to Zondervan for allowing me to review this book.
