A Facebook friend shared a link to a blog post called, “What God Didn’t Call You To.” As I read through the list, I was deeply moved. The Holy Spirit used this post on “300 Words a Day” to show me the expectations that I put on myself. Expectations that are not from God!
For my devotional time this morning, I am going to create my own list. A list of what God is not asking of me today.
God is not asking me today to be perfect.
God is not asking me today to save the world.
God is not asking me today to have a perfectly decorated house.
God is not asking me today to have a perfectly clean house.
God is not asking me today to lose five pounds.
God is not asking me today to dress and look like a magazine model.
God is not asking me today to keep everything in control.
God is not asking me today to be happy about everything that happens.
God is not asking me today to be someone whom I am not.
God is not asking me today to do the training of 18 years in one day.
God is not asking me today to be all to all.
God is not asking me today to remember every detail.
God is not asking me today to have the energy to work before sun-up until after sun-down.
God is not asking me today to remain unflustered when my child disobeys for the seventh time.
God is not asking me today to have it all together.
God is not asking me today to spend hours of uninterrupted time with Him.
God is not asking me today to prepare three five-course, healthy meals.
God is not asking me today to be responsible for other’s choices.
God is not asking me today to be someone else.
God is not asking me today to fix my faults.
God is not asking me today to fix my husband’s…children’s…neighbors’….civilizations’ faults.
But, God is asking me today to come and follow.
To place one foot in front of the other.
What is God not asking you to do?
