Have you noticed how child ask the best questions? Honest. Real. Sometime brutal. And after the question, sometimes I am speechless. Surprised by the depth of the question and dumbfounded how I am going to answer it.
Oftentimes the hardest questions are about God.
Because God Is Awesome!: Discovering How Amazing He Really Is is a book that helps you explain to your children who God is. The authors, Brad and Kathy Bright, have chosen thirteen attributes of God and explain to children what the attribute is, why it matters, and how it can help them help others.
This book would be great for family devotional time. Conversation Starters are provided with each attribute which will open up further learning! And if you don’t know the answer, the authors have provided their email address to help you find the answer to your kiddo’s questions.
Let me share with you the first attribute. “Because God is Personal.” Three points showing how God is personal are provided. Each point contains a verse and conversation starters point the attribute back to the Bible and allowing the child to make it personal. Each page includes an engaging illustration of children portraying the attribute of God to others or making it personal for themselves.
The book ends with 4 Keys 4 Kids which explains that God Love You, Sin Keeps us from God, Only Jesus Can Fix Our Sin Problems, and You Must Say “Yes” to Jesus! The plan of salvation is explained as well as Jesus promise to us if we accept the plan.
If the authors’ last name is familiar to you it is because the authors are the son and daughter-in-law of Campus Crusade for Christ founder Bill Bright. And the book is adapted from his book God: Discover His Character
Family devotional time is a wonderful way to instill biblical principles into your child. If you haven’t started, this would be a great book to begin reading to your preschooler or elementary aged child.
