Two weeks ago on this blog we focused on the what, when, where, why, and how of Teachable Moments. Those God-given moments that provide the perfect training opportunity for our children. Many times the words “patience, love, and self-control” are part of the teachable moments in our home. These words are three of the nine Fruit of the Spirit.
Pups of the Spirit is one of the newest books by Zonderkidz that uses puppies to teach preschoolers about the Fruit of the Spirit and could easily be used in a teachable moment. The “Pups of the Spirit” help the reader understand that “God gave each puppy (person) a gift of its own.” … “The pups show us how God wants us to be – each with a special trait he likes to see.”
The authors introduce us to nine little puppies who have different characteristics of the Spirit. The puppies help the child understand what each fruit means.
The illustrations are cute, fun, and soft. If your child is a dog or cat lover, he will be drawn into the different kinds of animals. To help your child remember the different fruits, the book jacket can be used as a poster.
The Fruit of the Spirit are taught in the 4 Year and 5 Year ABCJesusLovesMe Curriculum because heart education is just as important as academic skills. This book would fit in well with either curricula or in a home library.
Thank you to Zonderkidz for allowing me to review this book.
