Are You Empty?

06/01/2015 by Heidi

Can you relate to Kristin’s story?

Life was good.  I had pretty much everything a girl could ask for — a great career, a great husband, a beautiful new baby, lots of clothes in the closet… I even had a full time maid/cook AND a nanny!  I had pursued and achieved pretty much every comfort there was.

But even then, something was missing.  And, I found the answer in a unusual place.

Our little family was moving back to the States from Bangkok, Thailand.  While looking over a living room filled with empty boxes ready for the movers to come do their job, the answer came to me.
That’s what I am, I thought.  A room filled to the brim with empty boxes.

My life was empty.

Nothing I could do would fill up the “boxes.”  Oh, I tried.  But, nothing I could buy, achieve, or win could fill up the emptiness in my life.  I needed purpose.  I needed hope.

It was then and there that I chose to believe in an eternal, limitless, unseen Being that loved me so totally and completely that He sacrificed His Son, Jesus, to cover my emptiness, brokenness — my sin — so that I could be with Him forever.

And suddenly, just like that, without me having to lift a finger, my boxes were full.  My life changed.  Completely.  Totally.  Forever.  I had joy.

What Kristin has just shared with us is the Joy of Salvation.  When you realize that there is more to life than the mundane and you can’t do it on your own.  The only way to have purpose and hope is to put your full trust in Jesus, as your Savior.

Kristin admitted that she had sinned and fell short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23).  She believed that God so loved her that He gave His only Son, that if she believed in Him, she would not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16).  Then she confessed and choose Jesus to be Lord of her life and she was saved (Romans 10:13).

Sweet friends, if your life is empty, can I encourage you to stop trying to fill it with stuff.  Stop trying to be a better person.  Stop trying new things. Stop trying to ignore the longing of your heart.  All you have to do is admit, believe, confess, and choose Jesus.  If you haven’t done this, please leave a comment, contact me, or talk to a trusted woman in your life.  Ask someone to tell you about the hope and purpose that God desires to give you.

If you have a personal relationship with Jesus but wonder what is next, be sure to subscribe to this blog so you don’t miss the rest of Kristin’s story.  For, salvation is not the end.  It is just the new beginning.  And, I can’t wait to tell you more in the next blog post.

God has so much more for you than the here and now.   Right now, click to read more about becoming a Christian.
