Here is another great idea from Mailbox.com
Write a six and draw a ball at the bottom.
“The ball is on the bottom—six is for kicks.”
Write a nine with a sun in the top loop.
“The sun is in the sky—nine will shine.”

How has this worked? I've noticed that when 9 is written with a ball and stick (the way most people WRITE it), my girls have no problem recognizing it. It's the typical type-face form of nine that causes the problem. (Shall we start a campaign to standardize the ball and stick style?)

I find it interesting that the standard font used on most documents form several of the letters and number differently than how we write them. Poor kiddos! No wonder they get confused 🙂
