The title intrigued me. So much of my time, energy, and mental capacity is spent on being a great parent and in turn producing great kids. But in this season of life, I am drained. What gets pushed back first? My marriage. I mean, let’s get real. My kids can’t go without food, clean clothes, baths, love and the list goes on. But my husband can do all of those things on his own or do without. Right?
Great Parents, Lousy Lovers: Discover How to Enjoy Life with Your Spouse While Raising Your Kids is a book to help parents get life in order. It is through a healthy, happy, loving marriage that our kids can truly be healthy themselves.
While the topic is covered, this is not another if-you-want-a-better-marriage-have-more-sex-book. Instead it digs deep into your physical, spiritual, time-management, and relationship health and then into intimacy as God designed it. Added to the 20 chapters in this book are video podcasts, a web forum with specific questions, and date night activities and discussion questions.
Momma C’s Thoughts: Personally, I just finished emailing two of the pastors at our church expressing my thoughts concerning this book being used in our small-group studies and as a series. Secondly, this is a book that I desire to read through with my husband while hashing out the questions and ideas presented. I believe that there are several things that we can focus on to make our marriage stronger. Thirdly, this book opened my eyes to items that I need to surrender to God in my marriage and as a mom. This is also a book that will be on my gift-giving list for all parents.
Momma C’s Rating:
“An enemy wants to destroy your home. He has his sights set on your marriage. His cross-hairs are on your children, and he is using you to get to them…. Be prepared with your own plan to guard the hearts of your home.” This book provides you with a plan as well as a list of warning signs to help you gauge the health of your marriage.
Are you placing all of your energy on your kiddos thinking that your marriage will be there later? If so, we are missing out on a very big piece of the puzzle on raising our kids.
What you are doing to be a Great Lover which then leads you to being a Great Parent?

Hi, I have just begun following your blog and doing your 4 year old curriculum with my little boy. I am really enjoying both! We are in the process of adopting a child from Uganda, so life is busy. This seems like a book I need to read to make sure I am putting a priority on my marriage. It seems like the thing I let go of the most. Thanks for sharing your life with us!
