If you are not familiar with Usborne books, you need to be! Seriously, this company offers some of the best books. I have even talked about some of their books in previous posts. Usborne books are provided by local consultants, sold on consultant websites, as well as sold on Amazon. I had the privilege to review some more of their books. Boy was I impressed! In the next few days, you will be exposed to some great books as well!
Going to a Party is part of the Usborne First Experience collection. The eight books in this series introduce children to experiences that they may find themselves in for the first time – going to the hospital, dentist, new house, new baby, plane ride, new puppy, school, and doctor. These books are especially good for child with anxiety issues.
From a reading stand point, these books are set up to help children learn to read while still engaging parents to read. The child reads a short line followed by the adult reading longer text. Children love to feel a part of the reading experience in a taking-turns situation.
Bubs loved reading this book with me. Although the “child’s sentence” was too hard for him to read, we worked on his auditory skills as I read the sentence and he repeated it back to me. Then I read the adult portion. The pictures contain just the right amount of detail and engage fun conversation.
I encourage you to check out more! And, stay tuned for more Usborne reviews.
