You never know what I am going to review, do you! I love the elastic-plastic food covers. I use them all of the time and even had them on my Christmas list. When I was the given the opportunity to review the CoverMate brand, I was really excited.
We all have those dishes that we love but they don’t have lids. Or you have leftovers in a bowl or on a plate. This is where I pull out a food cover. I don’t waste or have to wrestle with aluminum foil or plastic wrap. The covers – with their elastic bands – stay tight around the dish to keep the moisture in.
Covermate covers are sold in individual boxes of medium size covers (12 ct), large size covers (10 ct) and our new Variety Pack (10 ct) which contains a selection of medium, large and extra large size covers. I had the opportunity to review the variety pack. It comes with:
-4 Medium – Fits 4″ to 9″ dishes
-4 Large – Fits 9″ to 14″ dishes
-2 Extra Large – Fits 14″ to 19″ dishes.
Momma C’s Thoughts:
Food Covers are something that I think every kitchen should have. They are versatile and reusable. I like them in the refrigerator or in the microwave. Do be care when you take the cover off something hot. Even with corner vents to allow steam to escape, there was still hot steam that could burn you.
Because I am kind of a anti-waste nut, I love how these are reusable. They can be put in the dishwasher but I wash mine my hand. I feel like I can get them cleaner in the sink than in the dishwasher. Probably the biggest pain is that they take a while to dry (just like drying a zip-top bag). But really that is an minor inconvenience. But when you think about the price that you pay for foil or wrap, purchasing the food covers really pencils out.
I do caution you – If you plan to reuse them, I would stay away from using these on raw meat.
