Stories in words and pictures are hard to find. Bibles in words and pictures are impossible to find…until now. Zonderkidz has just published the first (that I know of) Bible with word pictures.
In the My Learn to Read Bible: Stories in Words and Pictures key words are substituted with picture allowing your preschool child to participate in the reading.
Perfect for preschoolers, reading stories with words and pictures helps a child learn that reading occurs from left to right and that letters form words. Based up on the New International Reader’s Version, over 100 Bible stories are included in this large book. Scripture is provided with the title so that you can help the child understand from where in the Bible the story is taken. Each story ends with a one sentence key point. The illustrations are colorful and engaging.
The book begins with a glossary of 149 iconic biblical images. These are the images that are found throughout the stories allowing the child to expand their vocabulary and participate in the reading. In images are simple terms from everyday life (i.e. cross, angel, baby, boat, tree).
I look forward to using this book for the next few years with our kiddos and will be adding it to the 4 and 5 Year Curriculum suggested Bible list.
Thank you to Zondervan for allowing me to review this book.
