As
I sit in disbelief concerning the CT school shooting, I am
reminded that this world is not my home. Soon, those who have given
their lives over to Jesus as Lord and Savior will have “no more death or
mourning or crying or pain.” (Rev 21:4)
Secondly, no matter
what I do, I can’t protect my family or myself from the evil in this
world. Whether it is in visiting a school, movie theater, post office,
church, or shopping mall, I have no promise of tomorrow.
What I
can do is love those around me and grow in my knowledge of who God is. I
am given right now. What am I going to do with it?

"Secondly, no matter what I do, I can't protect my family or myself from the evil in this world."
I live in South Africa and have had guns of criminals in my own home three times over the past 7 years. Often I live in fear and want to do something to protect myself and my loved ones, but it is true that I cannot. God knows when it is our time to go home to him. He will never be surprised when we appear at heavens gates.
Nonetheless it is painful for those left behind. This shooting was a tragedy. When God loves us all so much, it is hard to understand how we can fail to appreciate the beauty and the wonder of life and to respect it.

Praise God that none of this is to His surprise. He is in control and one day soon we will see that the enemy has already been defeated!
