Several questions have been asked about the official start date of the ABCJLM curriculum. While I have done my best to make it easy to figure, every few years we are thrown a curve ball. The 2012-2013 school year is one of those year.
Thanksgiving is early and overlapping
weeks don’t fall in the normal pattern. Easter fluctuates so it will need
to be moved some years.
The official start date this year is August
27th. This lines up Christmas and the New Year.
With that said: The curriculum is basic enough to tailor to your needs. The only reason why it is set to a calendar is so that you can incorporate holiday activities to the learning. Since the calendar changes, sometimes holidays activities will need to be borrowed from a different lesson plan.
Also, “things” are going to come up – sickness, family emergencies, activities, etc. – during the year that you are not expecting. That is why review weeks are given to provide you with more flexibility.
So, begin when you desire and move around what is needed. Remember that the curriculum is a guide and not a rule book. Have fun and enjoy your kiddo!
