I get frustrated. Mad. Sometimes yell. Parenting is hard!
I am amazed at how crazy I can get when a child of mine does something absolutely stupid! (Am I supposed to use the word stupid even though my children can’t?) I do things that I never thought were possible all out of shear frustration.
Can you relate?
If you are a mom to a normal child, sure you can!
But I have a secret for you. Even though some days are over-the-cliff exhausting, the days when I haven’t spent time with my Savior are much, much worse.
Friends, have you spent time in the Word and in pray this morning?
If you haven’t, do it right now. Turn on a video for your kiddos, grab your Bible and go pray. Even for just a few minutes.
If this is the first time in a long time or ever that you have taken time to spend time with God, turn to Psalms 23 and let the words follow over you. We are going to look at the first verse and then you can dig into the rest on your own.
The Lord –
The Lord. The one. The only Lord of all of the universe. “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty,
who was, and is, and is to come.” [Rev 4:8]
This Lord is MY Shepherd –
My Shepherd. He is Heidi’s Shepherd. Your turn…He is _______’s Shepherd. He leads me and guides me. He protects me and loves me. He is not other people’s Shepherd. He wants to be mine!
I shall not want –
I am in need of nothing. There is not a day that goes by that God doesn’t give me the strength to be a mom. The ability to raise and mold our children. All I have to do is go to my Shepherd and let Him guide me.
Does this give you goosebumps? Sure does me. The Word of God is powerful.
Go. Sit. Be still and know that He is God. [Psalms 46:10] I promise that it will not be time wasted.
Today begins a series on quiet times. Devotionals or devo if you prefer various lingo. Over the next few weeks, we will be looking at the five W’s and one H on this subject – who, what, when, where, why, and how. I pray that together we will see the importance of spending time each morning at our Savior’s feet and then how to make the time refreshing and worth getting up for. See you tomorrow.
