A few years ago I shared on this blog a disagreement with my husband concerning exercise.
He thinks exercise would be helpful to me. Not because he wants me to wear a certain size of jeans but because he believes it would benefit the emotional me. For me, exercise would be one more thing on my daily list that would cut into other things that have to be done. I was convinced that adding exercise would take time away from my children, my husband, or my shut-eye time.
While meeting with my mentor, God reminded me of a simple point. I can’t take care of those around me if I don’t take care of myself.
Taking care of our bodies is just one more way to become fully healthy. Read the first post in this series: Is Your Mind Healthy?.

For my ?$th birthday, my husband gave me an Apple Watch 2. We don’t typically get each other gifts so this was a complete surprise. And, I’m so unhip that I didn’t even know what it was when he gave it to me! But immediately upon setup, I realized what a gift I had been given.
Because I get a copious amount of emails, phone calls, and texts each day, the Smart Watch has simplified my life. I can quickly check updates to determine the urgency. Through the watch I can answer phone calls and respond to message. I joke with my kids that the watch saves me hours each day. It also helps me Be Intentional with my family because I don’t have to find my phone to check information.
From an exercise aspect, I also love the heart rate monitor when working out and how it tracks my steps.
Smart watches are not for everyone and they are pricey. But in evaluating my goal to be healthy, an Apple watch has helped in several aspects of my life.
I added to my watch a screen protector and bumper cover. Make sure that you order the correct size.
There are many options of smart watches on Amazon, ranging from a few dollars to several hundred. I can only share my experience with the Apple Watch so please do your homework before deciding which one is best for you.
