Honesty here. Not like I am not typically honest but just to state a point. I do not like books of prayers.
I find them boring to read and my kiddos find them boring to listen to. Typically, they have precious illustrations but I fail to see the point.
This book of prayers changed my mind. The Beginner’s Bible Book of Prayers is amazing! For the first time, I felt like I was reading a book that would really impact my children’s prayer life.
If you aren’t familiar with The Beginners Bible, it is our favorite preschool Bible. Read more here. I love the illustrations, the simple, accurate stories, and the amount of stories.
The Beginner’s Bible Book of Prayers contains 20 short prayers for 20 of the most popular Bible stories. Each story contains an illustration (like those in the The Beginners Bible), a topical Bible verse, a character trait (perfect for the ABCJLM 4 Year Curriculum), and then the short prayer. The prayers focus on the main concept of the Bible story while applying it to the child’s life. Many of the prayers start with a praise or thanks to God. The book concludes with the Lord’s prayer form Matthew 6. I love how the prayers are written simply but yet have so much depth and honesty to them.
Just like Jesus modeled praying for His disciples, we should model prayer for our children. The Beginner’s Bible Book of Prayers is an excellent place to start.
