This weekend was a tough weekend for Bubs. Just when we were getting along so well. I know that some of it has to do with the extra abundance of rain that we have been receiving but that is not an excuse for his disrespectful attitude.
I have written before about Bubs getting upset and yelling “no” at the top of his lungs at me or his Daddy. Of course this is not tolerated and he is disciplined appropriately. But, it doesn’t seem to really help. It seems like he gets mad and just suddenly explodes.
Today Bubs and I sat down and discussed what is an appropriate way to get rid of anger and what is not appropriate. We came up with two ways that he could get rid of it – he could yell into his pillow or he could take 5 deep breaths. He understood that this was the only way that would keep him from getting in trouble.
Interestingly enough, I pulled out some homemade apple cider from the freezer today. Bubs loves this drink and he really wanted some. So, I told him that he could have some tonight before going to bed if he stayed in control all afternoon and evening. Not once did he yell at us. Understanding this, I believe that he is coming out of his rough time and is starting to be able to control himself better.

And who knows, maybe now and again I can toss an idea back at you! 🙂 Thanks for putting yourself out there for other parents and families to see!
