Tyndale Kids has a series of books called Little Blessings. These books provide answers to children’s many questions and are wonderful resources to explain spiritual and abstract concepts to little ones. Who Made the World and What is the Bible are the newest additions to help children ages 3 through 6 understand the basic truths about Christian life.
The first thing that you notice about this book are the beautiful illustrations by Elena Kucharik who created the Care Bears characters in the 1980’s. The pictures are precious for any age.
For each book, the first half is simply questions that a child would have using rhyming text. The next part is answering the questions using Scripture. Even though there are 64 pages in the book, each set of pages has only 4 short lines that rhyme.
My favorite part is at the end where each answer is supported by Scripture. For each page, there is at least one Scripture reference to allow further understanding for the adult and child. I love how the Bible can be brought along side these books!
The first time we read these books, we read them straight through. The next time, I had the kiddos answer the questions at the beginning of the book and we read to see if they answered them correctly. After doing this a few times, the kids will be able to answer the questions correctly each time! You could also match the text with the pictures and talk about the characters in the pictures.
I will be adding Who Made the World to the Creation lessons in the 3 Year Old Curriculum of ABCJLM along with What is the Bible to the first love lessons in the 4 Year Old Curriculum.
I would highly suggest these books for parents who are new to the Bible and the Christian faith. You can learn along side your child!
