If you live in a small community, chances are that your town is holding an Easter Egg Hunt. My sister-in-law introduced me to this wonderful idea for churches. Have an Easter Activity Time at the church following the community Easter Egg Hunt. Families are already in town and they can just extend the day. This is a wonderful ministry opportunity for churches.
Divide the children into groups and rotate them through the activity centers. Here are a few activities that your church could do (directions for these ideas here):
Petting zoo and pictures with rabbits
Use Jelly Beans or Resurrection Eggs to tell the Easter Story
Make Easter Story Cookies – have these with juice for snacks
Have an Easter craft
I found this wonderful website – Children’s Ministry Magazine – that gives back-issue Easter ideas. These ideas could be used for an Easter Activity Time, with a church group, Sunday school class, or as a family.
