In spirit of St. Patrick’s Day, we made rainbows. I found this wonderful activity at Preschool Playbook under the St. Patrick’s Day theme. I just changed it up a little.
On a piece of construction paper, I drew six arched lines. We talked about the order of colors in a rainbow. I poured Fruit Loop cereal into a 9×13 pan. We started with purple. The kids tasted the “color” and we talked about the fruit the color tasted like. (We bought the really cheap Fruit Loops so the taste was a little hidden.) Glue was placed on the smallest arch and progressed outward.
To finish, we added cotton balls for clouds. They turned out so cute. The kids had a lot of fun doing this. Plus, they practiced sorting, worked on their sense of taste, fine motor practice, learning about rainbows, and sensory activity by touching the different textures. Don’t forget that they got to eat a yummy snack. Win/Win activity!

Also for St. Patrick's there is a good little Veggie Tales short about the his story. It's on the Sumo one and Tales From the Sock Drawer, and also on YouTube. We made "God milk" discussing the 3 parts of the trinity. Pouring milk (representing the Holy Spirit) into a glass (representing the child) and then added yellow food coloring (God the Father) and blue (God the Son). Stir it up and you have 1 God, but with 3 parts. Did the same thing when we painted our shamrocks, with white, yellow, a blue paint blobs on each of the leaves, them mixing together to make light green. Twisty pretzels also have 3 parts to the whole and mixing 3 batches of playdough together would be another fun one.
