ABCJLM Curriculum Update

10/18/2010 by Heidi

If you are following the curriculum by date, this is week 9 – review week – of the ABC Jesus Loves Me curriculum. I wanted to give an update on how it is going for our family.
Due to where birthdays fall, we are using the 3 Year Curriculum for both Sweet Pea and Little Man along with the writing of the 4 Year Curriculum. We just finished studying Noah’s Ark. The kids love to use the Through the Bible Flannelgraph. By Friday, they tell me the story with just a little guidance.
Last night they both (individually) told their grandparents the three verses they have learned so far. It is awesome to see a 4 year old and 2 year old be able to quote three verses of scripture. The Bible stories and verses have become part of our daily conversations. Love it!
Sweet Pea is doing well on writing her letters and numbers. She struggles with “thinking” sometimes and chooses to makes mistakes so that she can erase. (Why is erasing so much fun for kids?) But, Mommy knows her game and this too shall pass!
We throw colors and shapes into everyday activities for Little Man. Really my biggest focus with this spirited one is to get him to stay still when needed. During Bible time, I place a pillow on the floor as his spot. He is allowed to place a flannelgraph piece on the board but is to return right back to the pillow and sit. We are getting there slowly but surely.
I am amazed at their retention. Even when you think they are not listening, the little sponges are soaking up so much.
This is a review week which means that we will focus on those things that we either didn’t have time for or need to review.
