With our Spirited Little Man, there is no in between. He is either amazingly angelic or frustratingly tasmanian. I will use potty training as an example.
Basically, I can say that Little Man is potty trained. We started a month before his second birthday. I understand that he is a boy and boys usually start later than 23 months. But, we were spending all of our time in the bathroom because he was telling me that he needed to go – might as well do the real thing. Now four months later, he still has accidents.
This is where the spirited child thing comes in – he will be dry for a few days. At 26 months, he even takes himself into the bathroom, does his thing, comes out, and let’s me know he went. Pretty amazing. Then there are days where he will have two or three accidents. No rhyme or reason. Some of these accidents happen in the bathroom. He has gotten distracted by who knows what on the way.
Here’s another one…picking up toys. From a young age we have worked on Little Man picking up his toys. He is very good at it. Then there are days when he digs in his heals and won’t pick up one. (Of course this is handled and the toys are eventually picked up.) You would think that you asked him to do the impossible. No rhyme or reason.
Overall, I don’t have the answers for Spirited Children. Hopefully you have gleaned some insight this last week. And as I learn more, I will be sure post. You too! Please share as you learn helpful tips along the way.
