Father’s Day is just around the corner. Since I don’t live near my parents, I typically don’t get to spend Father’s Day with my Dad. Despite the miles, I have an extremely close relationship with my Dad. We talk on the phone 4-5 times a week, Skype 2-3 times a week, and get to be together every 6-8 weeks. I know…I have it good. A dad that I adore and one who dotes on me.
Dads have a tough role in life. The responsibility to lead a family is huge. I praise God that I am married to an amazing dad. He is the only dad that I know who has planned his work and workout times around his family. Beginning his work day at 4:00, he tries to get home and spend as many hours as possible with our family before putting the kids to bed. No, he doesn’t enjoy getting up at 4:00 but does it so he gets more than an hour with his children each day.
I realize that this isn’t an option for some dads. I realize that not everyone has a good relationship let alone a close relationship with their dad. As Father’s Day approaches, I praise God for the men He has placed in my life.

I remember going to Ontario, Canada every summer. I learned to fish there with my dad and granddad. I only ever caught one fish, but it was a HUGE channel cat. I declined to clean or eat it. 🙂
