I was excited to see that Zonderkidz has created our favorite Bible on CD in the Beginner’s Bible Deluxe Edition. All of the 94 stories are read word for word with added sound effects and music.

Included in the Deluxe Edition is The Beginners Bible and two CD’s. The Bible contains 94 major stories from the Bible. The chosen words are simply enough for children to comprehend. A dictionary is included at the end of the book for the harder ones. The pictures are luring. Two to five sentences are included on each pictured page. Most stories last four pages. This is the Bible that my husband uses each evening with our kiddos. They have read through it four times. Little Man sits from long periods of time flipping through this Bible. He “reads” it to himself and us. Sweet Pea uses this Bible (along with her Princess Bible) when teaching her “children” school.
The reading and few sound effects on these CDs are perfect. The background music is an asset. Professionally done, the delivery provides just the right amount of extras. The same male voice narrates all of the stories. A different voice is used for words in quotes. A woman’s voice is used to announce the title and scripture reference for each story.
At first I was disappointed that there was not a sound made to designate a page turn. But after thinking through it, I changed my tune. With the small amount of words per page, it would get annoying listening to the constant chimes.
Little Man loves to “read” his Bible. I am going to use the CD’s during his quiet time. These CD’s would be great for car rides because of their calming effect.
