Friends, there are times when I can’t wait to share something that I just learned. It is literally bubbling up in me. This revelation came through a parable, a message, and my quiet time.
The Parable of the Talents has always been a convicting parable to me. Jesus explains that we are all given valuable, unique resources to further the Kingdom. Those resources can either be buried or put to work. Upon the return of Christ, we will all give an account of what we did with our gifts.
As I listened to the message, I was spurred again to make sure that I know what my talents are and to make sure that I am using the talents that God has given me.
I believe that I know what my talents are. But am I using them to further the Kingdom? In using my talents, I am talking about blood and sweat work. Non of this fluffy, pretty, woman-in-a-skirt-and-pearls use of my talents.
So, in thinking about my talents, I started evaluating my day. How can I use – blood, sweat, and tears work – my talents when I am “stuck” at home all day with four little ones? Sometimes I feel like I am being held back because I am still changing diapers and tied up by naps and early bed times.
The next morning during my quiet time, I continued to think about this.
Then the Holy Spirit clearly said, “Heidi, I have given you many talents. But you have overlooked some of them. You have been blessed with four more talents in the names of Bubs, Sweet Pea, Little Man, and Peanut.“
Talk about clarity!
The Holy Spirit explained that for this season of life, my blood and sweat work is to be geared toward raising my four gifts.
This does not mean that I am supposed to hold all of my talents captive in our home right now. God has places for me to share my talents outside – even now. God just showed me that my focus, energy, and effort at home is not a waste of my talents. They are in addition to!
What are your God-given talents?

Beautifully said, Heidi!
I read this post a couple of days ago and it also touched my heart.

It's great to stretch ourselves from time to time and try things outside of our comfort zone, but God gave us our own particular gifts and abilities for a reason…to use them for His glory! 🙂
