Thanksgiving Traditions: 8 Fun Thanksgiving Treats from Pinterest

11/14/2012 by Heidi

Have you seen all of the fun Thanksgiving treats on Pinterest?  Super cute and several are easy to make.
I wanted to combine these ideas and provide you with links to the directions.

Thanksgiving Teepee Cupcakes

Using a cake mix, sugar cones, pretzels, melted chocolate, and sprinkles, you too can create these adorable teepees.  This idea can be found at StiesThoughts.

Turkeys and Pilgrim Hats

While the turkeys would take a little time, the pilgrim hats would be simple enough.  The blog OurBestBites.com shows you pictured instructions how to make these cute table decorations or snacks.

Pilgrim Hats

Personally, these are my favorite of all of the pilgrim hats out there.  And with three ingredients, you can’t go wrong – chocolate wafer cookies, orange frosting, peanut butter cup.  Find directions at WomensDay.com.  Now if I can just figure out what to switch out for the peanut butter cup to be able to take it into a peanut-free environment.

Turkey Cupcakes

This is a creation that I came up with last year.   Very easy to make using marshmallows, string licorice, and candy corn on cupcakes.   Direction here.

Acorns

I like!  Hershey Kiss, chocolate chips, and a Nutter-Butter (use Ritz Bitz or mini Nilla Wafers if allergic to peanuts) are all that you need.  We made these acorns for Little Man’s Thanksgiving Feast at church.  The older kids were able to help quite a bit while Little Man unwrapped the Hershey kisses.

Melt 1/2 cup chocolate chips in the microwave for 10 second intervals, stirring between each set.  Unwrap the Hershey kisses.  Lightly dip the kiss into the melted chocolate and then set on the Nutter-Butter or Nilla Wafer.  Let sit to firm up.  Then dip a mini chocolate chip into the chocolate and set on top.

Hints We Learned:
 – The kisses will begin to melt in your hand very quickly so don’t over handle.
 – As we made the acorns, we placed them in a container that was sitting on two ice packs.  This helped the acorns set up faster.
 – Use only enough melted chocolate to make the pieces stick together.  Otherwise the chocolate oozes out.

Idea from SixintheSuburbsBlog

Turkey Cookies

What draws me to these cookies in how they will stay together between than tall cookies.  Make or purchase sugar cookies and then add decorations.  Directions at Pillsbury.com.

Turkey Cups

This option is fun because you aren’t limited to ingredients.  Fill the cups with anything.  This idea comes from HappyClippings.com.

Sugar Cone Cornucopia

Honestly, I don’t know that I could get a sugar cone to look like a cornucopia.  But by looking at the directions on TheCraftPatch.blogspot.com it sure seems simple enough.

Which one will you and your family make?

Do you have an idea to add?
