Helping Anger Management #5

02/08/2013 by Heidi

This week I have
shared several key points from Julie Ann Barnhill’s book, She’s
Gonna Blow!
. I pray that you gleaned some tips to add to your toolbox.

But what if after reading all of the key points you
are still coming up short? What if you have read all of the posts,
researched online, talked to girlfriends, and begged God all to no
avail?

Hidden in an
unlikely place in the book, Julie Ann shared her main advice to
deal with anger. She says, “For me, the key was realizing
the anger’s grip in my deepest heart because of my past and verbally
confessing, out loud, that my children are blessings…
Blessing given
by God. Blessings to make me more like Him. Blessings.”

I had to read
these sentences over several times to fully understand the meaning.

For Julie Ann, she had
to realize where the anger initiated. What was causing all of the
anger? For her it was in her past. Secondly, she had to vocally
claim her children as blessings
. Blessings that God gave her because
He knew she needed them in order to be molded in His image.

What is causing
your anger?

If you are not sure, I encourage you to go back and read
Monday’s post where I share some ideas.

Secondly, in Psalms
127:3 it says “Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward
from Him.”  Claiming this verse can bring healing over time and remove the enemy’s lies in your life.

One more thought
before we close this week. If you are out of control either physically or verbally, you may need to seek the help of a professional. A Christian
counselor is a great place to start. He or she can help you find the
root of the problem and help you find solutions.

Think of it like
this. If your child is running a 105 degree fever, do you seek
medical help? Of course you do!

Anger is a sickness just the
same. For the sake of yourself and your family, seek the help that
you need. It may be ugly going through all of the yuck of your past.
It may hurt to see what is occurring in your home. But when you
are looking back on the experience, you will wonder why you waited so
long.

Friends, God is bigger than our frustrations.  He is bigger than our anger.  I pray that you have found some tips to help you.  I know that I have.

Of the tips that I have shared from Julie Ann’s books, which one was most beneficial to you?

Thank you to Harvest House Publishing for allowing me to review this helpful book.
