The Challenge

Our goal is simple: Spend 100 hours outside with your child or students this summer. Whether you’re a family or a teacher, this challenge is designed for everyone. It costs no money but promises life-long returns. You don’t have to be creative, crafty, or a “fun mom” to participate—just a willingness to embrace the outdoors!

Why Outside Play?

Outside play extends far beyond just absorbing Vitamin D. Here are just a few:

• Nurtures a child’s development in areas of physical, cognitive, language, social, and emotional learning.
• Increases curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking.
• Boosts the immune system.
• Is a free activity providing sensory input.
• All ages can participate.

How to Participate in the Outside Play Challenge

1. Track Your Hours: Record the time spent outdoors using our tracking tools. You can use either the adult chart or the fun child coloring charts provided in the free download (pictures above). Each image or block represents one hour of outdoor play. Help your child color a summer-themed image for each hour spent outside. Celebrate for each page completed!
   
2. Create a Journal (Optional): If desired, assist your child in creating a journal entry detailing their adventures and observations. For younger children, encourage them to draw the activities and the weather. For older children, help them write about their experiences using single words or sentences. Templates are provided in the packet.
   
3. Share Your Adventures: For a chance to win exciting prizes, snap photos of your outdoor adventures, time sheets, and journals, and share them on social media. Don’t forget to tag @ABCJesusLovesMe. Follow ABCJesusLovesMe on social media for more details and updates throughout the challenge.
