These words are the repeated chorus in Jinger Dugger Vuolo and her husband Jeremy’s new book You Always Belong (ad). The book gently helps children understand God’s love and their place in His story.

But as I read it, I couldn’t help but wonder how many of us moms need that same reminder.
We pour into our children, giving all that we have, and then quietly look around wondering who will pour into us.
We prepare meals, clean up yet another mess, unload clean dishes for the third time today, and still ask ourselves—does any of this even matter?

We discipline with firm boundaries. We pray over our children. We make church a priority—while fully knowing our children have free will.
And somewhere in the middle of all that obedience, we can feel unseen… unimportant… unsure of our purpose. Do I even matter?

I don’t know the battle your mind may be fighting today. Maybe today feels steady—but next week the doubts will creep back in. They often do.
