We pray "now I lay me…" followed by something we are thankful for at bedtime. We thank God at meals and for various other times. My five year old has just started initiating prayer time on his own recently. It makes my heart swell.

We want our children to know we can talk to God anytime. So, in addition to bedtime prayers and meal blessings, my daughter and I pray before home school, when we are anxious/scared and especially as a thank you for a beautiful day or much needed rain etc.

We are trying to teach our little ones that a prayer can just be a conversation with Jesus and so we really vary our prayers and keep them short and simple so they are easily understood by the young ones. It is so wonderful to listen to the children praying and to know that Jesus hears their every little concern.
I am following you on Blogger, but I can't figure out how to add your buttons…I tried several different things and have given up as computer challenged….lol…advice is welcome. I just started "blogging" and don't really know too much about it…just a place to ramble on so my hubby doesn't have to listen to all of it at this point I suppose…here it is if you'd like to read my random thoughts:) http://blogbybobbi.blogspot.com/
I have also started using your 3 yo curriculum…really enjoying it so far. We made creation pictures with cotton ball clouds this morning! They are both begging for more "table time" so I would say that they like it too! I especially appreciate the sensory ideas as my 4yo son has some sensory issues.

We have index cards with scriptures posted at several places throughout the house. We pray these verses as we see them as we go throughout our day.

I teach my kids to pray in a few ways. We have two sons with various needs (Autism – both, SPD – both, speech issues – both, one being non-verbal, hypotonia – both, feeding issues – younger son). First, and foremost, we pray with our sons and in front of our sons. We pray before meals, before bed, during the day when a need arises. We feel demonstration is the best teaching method when it comes to prayer.
I talk to them in our formal learning time about prayer. We go to church where prayer is an important part of the worship. Prayer is just central in our life and something I hope and pray (no pun intended) they will make a central part of their lives.
