Do you know how cows came to America? Do you know how long an eagle can live? Do you know how much a moose weighs?
From the Made By God series is a new book called Animals All Around that helps you answer all of your children’s curious questions including these above.
Animals All Around is a 4-in-1 book that covers Forest Friends; Other Feathered Friends; Cats, Dog, Hamsters, and Horses; and Barnyard Critters. From the first sentence the authors lay the foundation of Creation. “God created everything and made it good.” Then, the authors explain just how wonderful and beautiful the animals and their habitat are.
The book is from the “I Can Read” Level 2 series for “readers who are increasingly confident, but still need some help.” From my experience, I would consider this book a late 1st Grade, early 2nd Grade level.
One thing that I really liked about this book is how it encourages you to read more. Many pages end with sentences like, “One special animal pet is called a …”. This allows you to discuss with your child what the next animal may be. The next page finishes the sentence with a large image of the animal.
The first-rate-quality images are photography of actual animals. No drawings or clip art. The colors are vibrant and beautiful. The margins contain facts about the animal.
We enjoyed this book and will continue to read it over and over. Even this farm girl learned a lot! I highly encourage you to add this book to your home library for reading fun or homeschooling. Use the book to learn about animals, as an example of non-fiction, reading practice, or to further a Creation study. (The content of the book aligns with Standards for Reading: Literature and Informational Text.)
This book would be great to add to the ABC Jesus Loves Me 2 Year Curriculum Weeks 5-9 – “God Made Animals” and 5 Year Curriculum Week 25-29 -“Animal Study.”
