Jesus’ disciples, Peter and John, were teaching the people. The priests and captain of the guard were greatly disturbed by this and put them in jail. The next day, the rulers, elders, and teachers of the law brought Peter and John before them to question them.
Peter, “filled with the Holy Spirit,” spoke to the accusers with great courage.
Read the reaction of the leaders:
Acts 4:13 When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.
Who were Peter and John? Unschooled, ordinary men.
What had they done to astonish and make the men take note? They had been with Jesus.
Love this!
It is not about me because I alone am not going to turn heads. But, when I have been with Jesus, people are going to think twice. They will see the love, peace, joy. The kindness, faith, gentleness. And the self-control, goodness, patience. They will see Jesus in me.
Notice that Peter and John had not attended a self-help conference or read the How to Become a Better Christian book.
It was the time that they spent with their Savior studying, praying, and living life.
Want to be astonishing? Spend time with Jesus.
The above point comes from the study Balance at the Speed of Life – for Women. This is the book that I am using for my quiet time and am weekly pouring through with a group of amazing women. God is using this book to speak to each of us in amazing ways.
Have you been with Jesus so that others see a difference?
