Every once in a while I read a book just for fun. Not because I need to finish a review but just because I want to read the book. Karen Kingsbury’s book are usually on that list. Shades of Blue is the latest book that I finished for fun.
Karen Kingsbury has an incredible gift. I am blessed every time that I read a book of hers. Seriously, I never go away empty handed. God is always leaving me with a verse, thought, or understanding that I didn’t have before.
Here is an overview of Shades of Blue:
Brad Cutler, twenty-eight, is a rising star at his New York ad agency, about to marry the girl of his dreams. Anyone would agree he has it all … a great career, a beautiful and loving fiancee, and a fairy tale life ahead of him—when memories of a high school girlfriend begin to torment him. Lost innocence and one very difficult choice flood his conscience, and he is no longer sure what the future will bring except for this: He must find his old love and make amends. Haunted by the past and confused about the future, he turns to God seeking forgiveness and redemption.
Once again Karen Kingsbury hammers home forgiveness and redemption. The true healing that only God can give. But it was in a small saying that God chose to speak to me.
Because You Only Have One Chance to Love
As a mom of three – five and under – I sometimes forget to love. You know what I mean? I get so caught up in the change-the diaper-fix-a-meal-fold-the-laundry life that I forget to simply love. But yet I am reminded that I only have this moment…this day…this year…once. I will never get the moment back to simply slow down and love.
