Now that Bubs is in Kindergarten and starting to read, I am always looking for books that he and I can read together. Zondervan offers several in their “I Can Read” series. Just in time for Christmas, this post is going to focus on the Mrs. Rosey Posey series by Robin Jones Gunn. You and your child will be drawn into the wonderful illustrations.
If the author’s name rings a bell, you may be familiar with her teen and adult books. I grew up reading the Christy Miller series which I highly suggest for all high school girls. This author is incredibly gifted because she has done a wonderful job on her children’s series as well.
Mrs. Rosey Posey and the Hidden Treasure – A lesson in the value of God’s Word. Bubs loved this book that featured pirates and treasure. Momma loved this book because the treasure ends up being the Bible and stories it entails. At the end the boys are drawn into the Bible by hearing that it includes stories about “giants, kings, and talking donkeys.” And then they are given a sneak peak into the story of a “big fish that swallowed a man”. I love the excitement the author brings for the Bible.
Mrs. Rosey Posey and the Yum-Yummy Birthday Cake – A lesson in forgiveness. The children learn the importance of repentance from Mrs. Rosey Posey. Explained very well.
Mrs. Rosey Posey and the Fine China Plate – A lesson on how God sets us aside for His special purposes. Love this plot. Natalie learns the importance of staying away from sin and keeping her life clean through the example of a fine china plate.
Mrs. Rosey Posey and the Baby Bird – A lesson in God’s care for us. After finding a baby bird who fell out of his nest, the children learn that God knew about the bird. The book is a little bit of a mystery as the children try to figure out who else saw the bird fall.
I hope that Robin Gunn Jones has more of these books to publish because we will be looking for them! I have added these book to the 4 Year ABCJLM curriculum where appropriate. I also believe these books would make great gifts for both preschool and early elementary aged boys and girls.
Momma C’s Rating:
Thank you to Zonderkidz for giving me the opportunity to review these books.

This is a new series to me. I love children's literature and glad Christian authors are beginning to keep up with beautiful books for children.
