Here goes nothing.
“I am stressed.”
There. I said it. Now the hundreds of you who read this blog each day know that Momma C is stressed.
Oh, I said it again.
Would saying “I am stressed” one more time make it a charm?
I spent this past weekend thinking, praying, discussing this issue with my husband. While I can feel the tension in my muscles, I see the tension in my response to my family. A mole hill seems like a mountain. Split milk seems like an ocean of liquid. One toy out of place seems like a swamp of plastic pieces.
What is causing this sinking feeling? And what can I do so that I am not on edge 95% of the time?
Mentally, I started making a list of the things that I do and their order of importance. Then I began looking at what is causing this list to get out of balance.
Here is what I came up with…
- My expectations of myself and others need to be eliminated.
I am a perfectionist, Type A, hardcore mess. I don’t just expect a lot from everyone else, I expect myself to be top notch at all times. I am to be Super Christian, Super Wife, Super Mom, Super Housekeeper and Cook, and Super Friend.
Not gonna happen.
But…but… but…Isn’t this what God wants me to be? Doesn’t God want me to be on top of everything?
This weekend God kept telling me “Lay it down at My feet.”
Even as I type those words, my inner soul is at turmoil. Must…keep…striving…for…perfection. I must be all, to all.
“Lay it down at My feet.”
In the next few weeks, I am going to be blogging more and more about this issue as God has it front and center. As I am reading Kevin Leman’s new book It’s Your Kid, Not a Gerbil: Creating a Happier and Less-Stressed Home, God is hammering home what truly is important.
God isn’t asking me to be super. God definitely doesn’t want me to miserably strive to be Him! God is asking me to release trying. God is asking me to simply wear Him like a suit. Do His will, say His Words, love with His love. And, lay the rest of it at His feet.
Will you join me at the foot of our Savior?

Momma C 🙂
You have 4 kids! AND you do and give a lot to this blog! I often have trouble finding the balance with my 3 and all that life brings and I just keep my pictures up to date on the blog. I love your type A personality and how well laid out you have the abcjlm site, but also can see just how much time it would take to keep it up. God is using you mightily to help other moms and so many kids! Make sure you have a minute for you, too, and your fam 🙂 Thanks again for your site!

I have been there! And sadly, I keep ending up there! 😀 You are definitely not alone and it sounds like He is pouring wisdom over you as you sit at His feet. It's a great reminder for me right now too. I think I'll check out that book. Thanks!
