Several months ago I mentioned that my mom gave me a 1993 issue of Shining Star magazine. Included in this issue is an excerpt from Jody Capehart’s book – Cherishing and Challenging Your Children. The article called “Making Meaningful Memories”, contains practical tips to create family traditions and memories throughout the year. Each month, I will be featuring suggestions from this article and Ms. Capehart’s book.
September:
1. Set up a prayer tree. {A tree that contains prayer request.}
2. Find as many fun things as you can to do with apples. {Apple sauce, apple bread, apple jam, apple butter, apple art, etc.}
3. Celebrate Grandparent’s Day. {Make a card, invite the child’s grandparents or adopted grandparents over for a meal or dessert that the child helped make.}
4. Go on a bike ride or a walk. Admire God’s beautiful creation.
5. Make cookies and eat them outside.
6. Have a picnic at the local park.
7. Roast hotdogs and make smores outside.

These are great – thanks! I think we'll do the apple one and the grandparent's day one in our home this month.
