Is Superwoman Your Goal?

12/17/2013 by Heidi

Every once in a while I hear the title “superwoman” fly through the air when a group of ladies assemble.  This branding is given to the mom who has it all together.  Kids are well behaved, meals homemade and nutritious, and her husband praises her.  A textbook example of a Proverbs 31 woman.

But the more that I endeavor with all my power to be a superwoman, the more evident it is of my failure.

As a Christian woman, should being superwoman be my goal?

Kim shared this on our SISTERS Facebook Group –

We, as mothers, can not do everything.  Nor are we expected to. When we think we can do it all, we are filled with pride. Without God, we can do nothing.

A prideful heart is the driving force behind this desire to be recognized as a superwoman. I am nothing without the Lord.  It is only when I am humbled that God can use me to do super things for others.  It is only when I am using His strength to do the tasks at hand that I will have enough love, strength, and peace to give.  It is then that I can truly be a Proverbs 31 woman.

My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is
made perfect in weakness. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly
about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

2 Corinthians 12:9

During this Christmas season, am I trying to do it all?

Have I attempted every wonderful Pinterest idea all while plowing over everyone in my path?
Am I being authentic with people or trying to make myself out to be smarter, stronger, and better?

Is God my supply or am I trying to do it on my own?

God is working on my heart in this area.  I would love to hear your thoughts!
