Just a few minutes ago I finished viewing the series premier of “The Eleventh.”  It is a family-friendly show launched by the streaming service, Feeln, which brings to you “an exclusive library of Hallmark Hall of Fame features, Hollywood movies and TV series, and award-winning originals you won’t find anywhere else.”

True to Hallmark form, “The Eleventh” flaunts a cast of TV legends including Florence Henderson (The Brady Bunch, Dancing With The Stars), Ed Asner (The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Roots, Up), Cloris Leachman (The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Malcolm In The Middle), and newcomer Ren Harris.

“’The Eleventh’ focuses on a young girl’s journey to getting to know her estranged grandmother in order to bring closure to the past and unite her family.”   With a plot like that, I was very skeptical. I expected it to be a little watered-down and the acting to be weak.  What a surprise to find the plot unpredictable and the actors to be believable!  When the premier ended I genuinely desired to see more episodes.

Program for Your Kids:

I am always on the lookout for quality, family-friendly media options for the ABCJLM family.  I loved the title a new children’s program called Owlegories.  (Get it?)  I love play-on words. 

Owlegories is a new animated series and interactive digital app that “teaches kids about God through the amazing things found in nature and revealed in God’s word!”

When we popped in the Volume 3 DVD, my kiddos (ages 5 – 11) immediately began picking their favorite owl.  And who wouldn’t?  The little characters are just adorable.  The animation is fantastic.  You easily fall in love with the colors and scenes. 

The 3rd Owlegories DVD includes three short stories – The Fire, The Duck, The Seasons which “follows a group of student owls as they travel on adventures learning about nature, faith, and God. Each lesson focuses on an element of nature that helps teach children about the nature of God and the truths found in His Word. In Owlegories Vol. 3, families learn about the refining fire, the greatest gift, and God’s sovereignty!” 

Each story begins with the owls at school as they receive from their teacher a quest to discover three points.  Of course, an antagonist tries to keep them from finding the answer. After the journey, the students return to the school to discuss what they learned.  Then there is a recap and a 2-3 minute sermonette further explaining the learning and adding a verse. 

The three points from each story are not weak or watered down.  They are truth.  My favorite was The Seasons episode based on Eccel 3:1.  Important points are taught in a fun way.

According to Owlegories, their DVD’s are for ages 3-8.  Personally I feel the content would fly way over a three-year-old but just as my thoughts with What’s in the Bible?, you are laying a foundation.
