We live in a very large urban city and they do not allow holding your children back from kindergarten in our public school system. If you are 5 on or before September 1 you are in kindergarten. If you are 6 on or before September 1 you are in 1st grade. It doesn't matter if you didn't attend kindergarten, they send you right to 1st grade. Makes me thankful my son's birthday is in October.
