Why Praise Music Is So Important In a Momma’s Life & A Giveaway

We were sitting around the pool watching the kiddos swim.  Of course we started sharing tips.  Ideas on parenting, our Christian walk, and house keeping.  It’s what mommas do, right? 

A conversation started about TV and how much we allow our kiddos to watch.  One momma shared that her TV is on all day.  My eyes bugged out of my head!  {Read my thoughts on TV time here.}  She went on to explain that their TV contains the Pandora app and she has praise music flowing through their home all day long.  Another mom shared how she has seen an improvement in moods when they listen to music.

What is it about praise music that changes our mood, attitude, and outlook?

I can’t give you all the scientific reasons (though there are a lot), but I can share some of the differences that we have seen in our home.

1.  Singing glorifies God.
It’s hard to bicker at each other while glorying God.  Period. 

2.  Singing enables us to find joy in all circumstances.
Paul and Silas are a great example of this point.  Here they were in jail and Acts 16:25 says, “About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the rest of the prisoners were listening to them.”  When we are disciplining for the 17th time on the same issue, we can find joy in the journey.

3.  Singing reminds us of the mighty God we serve.
In Psalm 59:16 David says, “I will sing of your strength; I will sing aloud of your steadfast love in the morning. For you have been to me a fortress and a refuge in the day of my distress.”  And when we remember who God is we have clarity of the happenings around us.

4.  Singing helps us hide God’s Word in our hearts.

5.  Singing is something we are supposed to do!
Psalm 150:1-6 “Praise the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens! Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his excellent greatness! Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp! Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe! Praise him with sounding cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals!”

And I could go on.  Music is powerful for mommas and children alike.  In the 21st century praise music is available at your fingertips.  Often times for little to no cost!  Don’t forget about the free stations on Pandora.

As I have stated before, there is power in music. Whether you have a Pandora app on your TV, Cd’s in the player, or the radio, turn it on and be refreshed by truth.
