Fear in parenting has been a steady theme here and on the Parenting to Impress podcast—and honestly, in my quiet time too. This morning, in one of those still moments, it felt like a light bulb turned on.
In my prayer journal, I drew two simple columns:
🚫 A fear I was believing
✅ Truth from God’s Word that speaks directly to that fear
Then I made a choice—to believe God’s truth instead of my fear.
Here are a few I wrote down.

A Simple Practice to Replace Fear with Truth
💭 Fear: My children won’t follow the Lord.
✅ Truth: God loves my children more than I do. He cares more about their relationship with Him than I ever could.
📖 Deuteronomy 6:5–7 (ESV)
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children.
📖 Philippians 1:6 (ESV)
And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.
💭 Fear: I will mess up and miss God’s will.
✅ Truth: God is not standing over me waiting for me to fail. He is with me and for me. He invites me to stay in the Word, pray, gather with believers, seek wise counsel—and then take the next step in faith.
📖 Romans 8:31 (ESV)
If God is for us, who can be against us?
📖 Proverbs 3:5–6 (ESV)
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
💭 Fear: God will lead me into a valley of grief again.
✅ Truth: God has a future, a purpose, and hope for me. Jesus said life would be hard—but He also promised victory. And just as God is with me in the light, He will be with me in the dark. 🌿
📖 Jeremiah 29:11 (ESV)
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
📖 John 16:33 (ESV)
In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.
📖 Psalm 23:4 (ESV)
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me.

Finding Hope in God’s Promises
Here are some lies that the enemy may be saying to you.
Lie: I’m tired of reading this book. It doesn’t help the child.
Truth:
When young children hear the same story, song, or phrase repeatedly, their brains are actually building and strengthening neural pathways. These familiar experiences lay the foundation for memory, language development, and deeper understanding. — Melissa McCall, MovingLittleMinds.com
Lie: The fights will always continue. It doesn’t matter what I do.
Truth:
Every conflict is an opportunity to point the child to the Gospel of Jesus—to forgiveness, grace, and loving others.
Lie: I’m alone and no one understands.
Truth:
While every situation looks a little different, you are not alone. Many are faithfully walking this long road of parenting and teaching, one step at a time.
