Puffy Polar Bear

04/09/2012 by Heidi

Puff paint was a popular craft element when I was a kid.  Cool look.  Cool texture.  I was excited to see a recipe for puff paint on several pinterest posts.  So, I did some research of my own, combined a few recipes, and created a Puffy Polar Bear craft for the 5 Year Curriculum's lesson on the book God Gave Us Christmas. Begin by printing the ...

Spin a Chore

03/19/2012 by Heidi

For some reason in our home, the kids prefer to do a job at 80% instead of doing the job correctly. Not really sure why but they do.  Here's an example...instead of putting the toy in the room, on the shelf  where it belongs, the children place the toy in the doorway of the room.  I believe the extra three steps to finish the job ...

Craft:  Rain Sticks Tear off one sheet of aluminum foil that is three times as long as a paper towel tube.  Roll the foil lengthwise like a snake.  Wrap the foil around a wooden spoon creating a spring-like shape. Stretch the foil to be as wide and long as the tube.  Place the spring shaped foil into the paper towel tube.  Add a couple of ...

Hanging Art Projects

03/05/2012 by Heidi

So your child just painted a masterpiece.  Paint is all over the table, chair, and child.  How do you keep the stickiness from getting on more things while drying? Since we do most of our craft projects in the laundry room, I had the idea to use clip clothes hangers to hang our craft papers to dry.  Eureka!   Since air is ...

“I Hate You!” he said.

02/29/2012 by Heidi

"I hate you." He was mad because things weren't going his way.  The issue was extremely minor but in his small view of life, he thought the issue was worth exploding over and then he lost it. This isn't the first time that I have heard these words come from my seven-year-old son's mouth.  The hurtful phrase started about six months ago and ...

Four Seasons – Handprints

02/24/2012 by Heidi

While working on the ABCJesusLovesMe.com 5 Year Preschool Curriculum, I came up with this Four Seasons idea.   Really fun! Tree - Paint the child's hand and arm brown.  Press down on a piece of paper.  Roll the arm a little to make the tree trunk bigger.   Allow to dry.  Can also draw around the child's arm and hand on brown paper and ...

Creative Roads

02/17/2012 by Heidi

Cars, roads, buildings, and bridges equals a child's play place, laughter, and fun! Transportation is one of the units in the 5 Year ABCJesusLovesMe Preschool Curriculum.  So, Little Man, Sweet Pea, and I built a road system using painter's tape (do not use masking tape as it will leave a residue).  With a basic figure-eight setup, we made ...
