Fishing Game

10/11/2012 by Heidi

My kids have enjoyed going "fishing" in our living room.  Catching each fish becomes a educational game.  What's great about this activity is that they don't even realize that they are learning!!!  This game is easy to make and can be created as simple or as detailed as you want. To Make: Fishing Pole: A dowel rod, string, and ...

Review: Raising Financially Confident Kids

08/07/2012 by Heidi

"In other areas of life, we were diligently teaching our children important values of responsibility, honesty, self-discipline, and faith.  But failing so miserably in this matter." Any guessing on what "this" matter may be? After looking at the book image above, you probably guessed it.  Financial responsibility. Looking back, Mary ...

Making a Toddler Talk

08/06/2012 by Heidi

Can you make a toddler talk? Well it depends who you ask. But in the case of our little Peanut, I believe you can. Bubs was a slow talker. He ended up in speech because of it. Sweet Pea talked very early. Little Man was having conversations before some kiddos can walk. (Okay this is an exaggeration but not much of one!) Now Peanut enters the ...

How to “Do” School with Your Child

07/23/2012 by Heidi

Imagine this with me.  A mom and child are neatly dressed sitting at the table looking at school books.  The child is happily gleaning from the mom's wisdom and desires to learn. There are no distractions in the background and the kitchen table is obviously neatly wiped down.  I would wager that the statement right before we enter this scene was ...

Review: What’s in the Bible Vol 6

04/11/2012 by Heidi

What's in the Bible Vol 6 - A Nation Divided.  Enough said.  Review over. Really that is how I want to write this review because simply put, we love these DVD's.  We love what our children are learning about the Bible.  Even as adults, we love what we are learning about the Bible.  If you haven't started your library of the What's in the Bible ...

Puffy Polar Bear

04/09/2012 by Heidi

Puff paint was a popular craft element when I was a kid.  Cool look.  Cool texture.  I was excited to see a recipe for puff paint on several pinterest posts.  So, I did some research of my own, combined a few recipes, and created a Puffy Polar Bear craft for the 5 Year Curriculum's lesson on the book God Gave Us Christmas. Begin by printing the ...

Craft:  Rain Sticks Tear off one sheet of aluminum foil that is three times as long as a paper towel tube.  Roll the foil lengthwise like a snake.  Wrap the foil around a wooden spoon creating a spring-like shape. Stretch the foil to be as wide and long as the tube.  Place the spring shaped foil into the paper towel tube.  Add a couple of ...

Four Seasons – Handprints

02/24/2012 by Heidi

While working on the ABCJesusLovesMe.com 5 Year Preschool Curriculum, I came up with this Four Seasons idea.   Really fun! Tree - Paint the child's hand and arm brown.  Press down on a piece of paper.  Roll the arm a little to make the tree trunk bigger.   Allow to dry.  Can also draw around the child's arm and hand on brown paper and ...

How To Picture Walk Through a Book

02/06/2012 by Heidi

source Even before their precious bundle of joy is born, parents are told the importance of reading to their child.  Most professionals agree that children should be read to at least 15 minutes a day.  But is there a certain way to read to a child? One academic term that you will hear floating around is "Picture Walk."  But what is ...
